All Out to Oppose Neo-Nazi Annual Event on Philly’s Boathouse Row

from facebook

COMMUNITY ALERT

Neo-Nazis plan to rally and march in Fairmount Park.

Where: Thorfinn Karlsefni Statue, Fairmount Park, Philadelphia
When: October 10th, 2015 @ 11:00 AM
What: Stand up to racist hate and bigotry of all kinds.

“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that
Matter” – MLK Jr.

For the past 9 years, the city of Philadelphia has played host to a gathering of Neo-Nazis right under the noses of it’s residents.

This gathering, known as “The Leif Ericson Day Celebration” is organized, promoted, and attended exclusively by members of Neo-Nazi organizations. In past years the gathering has drawn upwards of 50 hardcore racists and fascists to Philly and served as an recruiting and organizing tool for the main organization involved, the Keystone State Skinheads (KSS).

In addition to KSS, past Leif Ericson day celebrations have been attended by members of the Council of Conservative Citizens (CCC), The American 3rd Position Party/American Freedom Party (A3P/AFP), Volksfront (VF) , The Vinlanders Social Club (VSC) and the Hated Skins. All of those groups are considered hate groups by several independent organizations including the Southern Poverty Law Center, The Anti-Defamation League and the FBI. Furthermore, individuals who have attended past Leif Ericson day celebrations have been tied to racist terror organizations such as Blood and Honour and the KKK.

If past years are any indication, they will do a very short march in formation down lemon hill at Noon and attempt to lay a wreath and make speeches at the statue at the statue of Thorfin Karlson along Kelly drive.

Philly 1 Year Commemoration of the Murder of Michael Brown, the Ferguson Rebellion, & the Black Lives Matter uprising

from facebook

null

It’s been one year since the murder of Michael Brown, which sparked off the Ferguson Rebellion & created the Black Lives Matter uprising. While millions of people have taken the streets in protest to police terror and court injustice, and social media disseminates information daily on ever more brutal police violence, the killings continue at a rate even higher than last year’s deplorable numbers. We can’t stop now.

KEEP UP THE HEAT! Demonstrate for justice for Mike Brown, Sandra Bland, Brandon Tate Brown, Mya Hall, Frank McQueen, Merle Africa, Eric Garner, Malissa Williams, and too many others unjustly killed for the “crimes” of driving, walking, biking, shopping, playing or breathing while Black.

– Demonstrate at Broad & Erie. [6pm]

– Help hold up a 125 foot-long scroll of the names of women killed by cops or died in police custody.

– Speak out on the question:
“If cops don’t say or do anything when they witness fellow police behaving violently and unjustly, is it fair to say there are no good cops?”

Protest Philly police beating Tyree Caroll

from facebook

URGENT: CALL TO ACTION!!
Another Black man beaten by Philly police!

Join family members to say Not One More Police Beating Of Our Children!

Black Lives Matter!

WE NEED BOOTS ON THE GROUND IN PHILLY THIS SATURDAY, JULY 18 @ 12 Noon

Gathering at the site of the beating (633 E Locust Ave Phila. 19144) &

March to the 14th District Police Station (43 W Haines St off Germantown Ave)

WHAT HAPPENED: On April 3, 2015 an unarmed, 22 year old Tyree Carroll was stopped across from his grandmother’s house in the Germantown section of Philadelphia for riding his bike the wrong way on a one way street. What started with 3 white officers ended in as many as 26 officers involved or watching in this Rodney King style beating. He was kicked, hit with a nightstick, threatened with a taser, called a piece of sh** and other obscenities as more police arrived. Tyree suffers from asthma and fearing for his ability to breathe like with Eric Garner and for his life, he likely saved his life by biting two officers who were choking him. Fortunately, a neighbor recorded a video, where Tyree can be heard screaming for his grandmom to come to the door. It is an outrage as the Fraternal Order of Police has called this incident “good policing”. We all know this kind of abuse goes on all too often, but it just so happens that this one, like Rodney King in LA, was caught on camera. Come protest, demand justice for Tyree Carroll and his family and for an end to police brutality in our communities.

Called by: Justice for Tyree Campaign including Black Lives Matter Movement, Every Mother is a Working Mother Network, Fight for Lifers West, Free Charmaine Committee, Global Women’s Strike (GWS), Hands Up United/Ferguson (St Louis), Human Rights Coalition, Jasmyne Cannick journalist & blogger, Jewish Voice for Peace – Philadelphia, Justice for the Dallas 6 Campaign, Let’s Get Free, Nana Gyamfi attorney for BLM/Los Angeles, Payday, Phila Coalition for REAL Justice, Women and Trans Prisoner Defense Committee, Women of Color in the GWS Co-sponsored by: Decarcerate PA, Parkhouse Studios, Peace Park, Peacehome Campaigns, Up Against the Wall Legal Collective List in formation, please contact us to endorse.

Protesters Deface Police Memorial In North Philly To Demand Justice For Brandon Tate-Brown

from mainstream media

More than a dozen protesters rallied outside of the 35th Police District headquarters in North Philadelphia last week and used chalk to deface murals honoring fallen officers. It’s linked to a group calling for justice in a seven-month-old police shooting.

Video taken by an off duty officer shows protesters yelling at officers as they stand over the mural with chalk drawings scribbled on the ground and walls of the police district and on the murals of fallen officers John Pawlowski and Richard Lendell.

The words on the murals: “murderer,” “terrorist,” “traitor.”

Pack the court for the LAWNCREST 10

from facebook

Wednesday at 8:30am, be at the Criminal “Justice” Center, 1301 Filbert St., Philadelphia.

The “Lawncrest 10,” the ten activists arrested at a Police Town Hall meeting will be in court to challenge charges of “disorderly conduct.” We need your support to show Police Chief Charles Ramsey and the Philly PD that criminalizing legitimate protest is unacceptable.

In the face of growing police repression nationally against the Black Lives Matter movement, it’s more important than ever that we stand firm and will not let those in power trample on our first amendment rights to free speech.

from facebook

MAY 1 – The 8th Annual May Day USA March, Rally and Celebration here in Philly at Clark Park!

FROM THE 8-HOUR DAY TO THE FIGHT FOR $15 – WHEN WE ORGANIZE WE CAN WIN!

Unbeknownst to many Americans, May Day was founded in the United States after the nationwide general strike for the eight-hour workday that started on May 1, 1886. The annual May Day USA Education Committee celebration – taking place at Clark Park in West Philly this year – highlights this hidden labor history as well as today’s struggles and past labor struggles honored by the Elmwood Park Labor Monument right here in our own City of Brotherly Love! [See below for more on the Labor Monument.]

The 8th annual “May Day USA March, Rally and Family Celebration” on Friday, May 1st 2015, kicks off at 2PM with a rally and march – co-run by our allies at “Fight for $15” and “$15 Now” – calling for a livable wage for all workers — starting in front of the McDonalds at 40th & Walnut Streets and ending up at Clark Park (43rd Street & Baltimore Avenue) where our celebration will begin at 3PM. The Clark Park rally and celebration will include a DJ, live music, singers, poets, a BBQ by the Veterans For Peace Chapter 31 “Precision Grill Team,” children’s entertainment, and an array of notable speakers from Labor and other allied organizations in Philly. Becoming Rebels

From FTW/WTF

On February 28th, we participated in a “Day of Outrage” march in Bridgeton, New Jersey in response to the execution of Jerame Reid by Bridgeton police on December 30th, 2014 at a traffic stop. Police claimed he had a gun despite both his hands being visible to officers in the video (more details can be found here). This march gave us a snapshot of our movement’s strengths and weaknesses, as well a lesson in our enemies’ strategy. In the interest of advancing the struggle for a free society we offer this assessment of our actions, and some points on how to move forward.

Justice by Any Means Necessary #WhoKilledBrandonTateBrown

Feb 21st marks the 50th Anniversary Malcolm X assassination. Still today we are attacked by the very ones we pay to protect us.

On Dec 15th Brandon Tate Brown was shot in the back of the head during a routine traffic stop in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia. Since then Mr. Brown’s family has not received any information regarding who shot him and the details leading up to his death.
