Harrisburg, PA: Solidarity Action for la ZAD

from It’s Going Down

In the early hours of the 8th of June we immobilized an earth mover in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania at a new development project.

This small gesture was taken in solidarity with la ZAD of Notre-Dam-des-Landes, France, where rebels have fought to maintain an autonomous zone, free from the state and it’s plans for almost a decade.

The ZAD was first occupied 9 years ago to prevent the construction of a recently abandoned airport project and has inspired eco-rebels across the world, especially it’s inspiring defense against ‘Operation Ceaser’, a massive eviction attempt in late 2012.

Once again la ZAD is facing a fresh wave of repression, in the form of intense both police violence and a recuperative negotiation process which seeks to tame and legalize the uncontrolled zone.

Attack on Construction Vehicle in Solidarity with the ZAD and Camp White Pine

Submission

Dear international anarchist thugs, illegalists, casseurs, and defenders of wildness,

we are reporting live from Philadelphia. An attack has just been made, throwing a wrench in the cogs of the machinery of progress… well more literally some wires were cut and windows smashed on one of their bullshit bulldozers.

We have word that this attack was done in solidarity with the ZAD and Camp White Pine (hi! 😉 both of which are facing their own local bullshit bulldozers. The attackers have also sent rebel greetings to area anarchists who’ve been keeping it live (and especially those who share the specifics of their attacks to allow others to reproduce them).

Fuck work
Fuck progress

Signing off for now,
Team Illegal

Philadelphia, USA: Solidarity to the ZAD of Notre-Dames-Des-Landes

from Contra Info

Today, February 27, we put up posters in downtown Philadelphia in response to the call for a general mobilization against the airport project in Notre Dame Des Landes. The posters explain what the ZAD is and the struggle against the airport. We mostly put posters up on LAZ parking lots and structures. LAZ is owned by Vinci, the same company responsible for building the airport in Notre Dame Des Landes.

The ZAD: an anti-capitalist occupation in France

from Facebook

The ZAD is a large scale land occupation near Notre-Dame-des-Landes, France. It was squatted in 2009 at the invitation of local citizen and farming associations, who had been resisting the imposition of an airport, highway, high speed train, and tram line since 1972. Since then, the anti-airport movement has depassed traditional limitations of “issue-based struggles” with a strong critique of capitalist and hierarchical systems (including and especially the State), and links and shared projects with a wide diversity of people, to the point where the divisions between squatter, farmer, punk, local… have become blurred.

After a massive police operation in 2012, “Operation Cesar”, this zone of 8 miles square has been free of State intervention, and has become known as a “zone outside the law”. We have (re)created our own infrastructures and are autonomous in many ways. Some things work less well, like conflict resolution, but overall the occupation is settled into the territory and is planning for the long term, together with the “locals” and “farmers” involved in the struggle and those living close by.

In this talk hosted by someone who lives on the ZAD, there will be a bit of history and context on the land, information about various projects, a discussion of what’s going on now, on the occupiers’ side and also on the government’s side, and the state of emergency.
